Jan/Feb 08   SAE AUCKLAND 2007 GRADUATION CELEBRATION

SAE Auckland’s annual graduation ceremony is always an enjoyable time for staff and students as they celebrate the achievements of the past year.

This year’s graduation ceremony was greatly enhanced by the attendance of the New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark.  She was not only the keynote speaker but also presented certificates and diplomas to each of the graduates – an unexpected bonus for each of them.

Prime Minister Clark has always been a strong supporter of the creative arts – her other cabinet position is Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage. In her keynote speech she congratulated the SAE Auckland graduates and urged them to make the most of their new qualifications in the expanding fields of film and music – in which New Zealand is gaining an increasing international reputation.

Her presence at our graduation is not only an indication of her continued support for tertiary courses in the creative industries but also a clear recognition of SAE Auckland’s increasingly important role in this growing area of tertiary education.

Jul/Sept 07   SAE SPONSORS DIOCESAN SCHOOL SONG CONTEST

On the 21st of August, SAE Institute (Auckland) was proud to sponsor Diocesan School for Girls' 'Dio Idol' competition.

The night proceeded with nine talented young women taking to the stage to sing their hearts out in their ambition to become the first ever Dio Idol.

Constance Hookway won the competition when she amazed the crowd and impressed the judges with her rendition of Who Knew, by Pink.
Her prize was the "SAE Studio Recording Award".

Constance now has the opportunity to perform the winning song (accompanied by Dio school band, Rubix) and have it professionally recorded at SAE's recording studios. Everyone here at SAE, who was involved with the event, is extremely excited about the recording session, and looking forward to working with such talent.

As an added bonus, students from SAE's Diploma in Film Making will be using the recording session as the basis for a music video featuring Constance and the Dio band. Watch for it on SAE's Youtube.

We were also very impressed with the organization of the night and would like to thank Regan Hillyer (Diocesan Deputy head girl), and all those at Diocesan who were involved with the night. We wish you all the best of luck for future events.
