Bronwyn Kidd, director of Flickerfest, said ‘the partnership celebrates the growing use of digital technology amongst a new generation of film makers and through Flickerfest’s partnership with SAE we will be able to acknowledge expertise in the use of this digital technology encouraging short filmmakers to strive for excellence in their craft” “The fact that we have added the new award, the ‘SAE Prize for Best Use of Digital Technology in a Short Film’ recognises the growing role of digital technology in providing the tools that enable a new generation of film makers to bring their stories to the screen” said Ms Kidd. Ron Schab Goes for Gold at Animal Logic "I think that SAE Institute - more than any other college I know - gives students the ability to make a choice of what they want to get out of their studies." That is just what Ron Schab did and after graduating, he landed a fantastic position working as an animator/wrangler at Sydney's premier effects and animation house - Animal Logic. Positions there are highly sought and this is no mean feat. Speaking of feat... It turns out that the first feature on which Ron worked was Happy Feet, which went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. "I enjoy having the opportunity to be involved in the professional workflow of a company that is leading the industry in its field. I love the feeling of creating entertainment, because I believe that it is an essential need that comes right after food, shelter and love." |

Sign up for a free recording at SAE! |
SAE Audio students need to regularly record bands for course assignments. If you are/have a band that is ready for studio recordings - please follow the link below to sign up. The sessions are free of charge. Due to the fact that the students who engineer these recordings are still learning, there is of course a limit in quality that you can expect from a student's production. If you require a recording for commercial use, please refer to commercial recording studios, of which there are many available in Sydney. It is an SAE policy that students' recordings must not be used for commercial release. However, these sessions definitely provide a good opportunity for bands to gain studio experience, to record a simple demo or to try out new material. Once you have signed up and submitted your band's details, these become available to current SAE Audio Engineering students. Students may contact you to arrange for a recording session. Please be aware that there is no garantee of being contacted and that when you are invited to the college for a session, you have to abide by college rules and regulations. If you wish to have your details amended or deleted please contact us at infosydney@sae.edu |
