As part of our academic studies, students of all disciplines are involved in numerous activities that often go beyond the scope of the regular curriculum, fusing practice and theory. But that is what our staff endeavours to deliver - "always more" is our motto!
And if that wasn't enough (!?!), we also have the audioclub,
hosted by Peter Moses, open to all students as well as industry professionals
on certain occasions.

SAE students recently undertook a field trip to Australia's most advanced microphone design manufacturer; the $13 million facility - operated and owned by RØDE Microphones - is where thousands of units are manufactured and provided to a plethora of different fields within the audio engineering community. The tour was conducted by RØDE President Peter Freedman. Students were able to see the many different stages undertaken to create these unique microphones, as well as the dedicated (and secretly guarded) Research & Development and Testing areas. Students were most pleasantly surprised to also see in action RØDE microphones' Vacuum Tube testing department, where hundreds of Valves are tested at one time to ensure their high performance is of a suitable standard, before their implementation into the RØDE circuitry. |
This trip is one of the many activities students undertake during their time studying here, at SAE Institute Sydney.

November 20th and 27th, recording industry veteran Michael Stavrou will lead an intensive 2 day workshop in string ensemble recording for audio students. Students will participate in all practical aspects of the recording
and also be treated to an in-depth theory class on the subject.
This continues what has been a jam packed year of action for our
students, having already conducted work at the prestigious Studios
301 in Sydney and also visited Trackdown Scoring Stage in the
FOX studios complex, and the best part is there is more to come
before the year is out! Michael Stavrou is a leading audio engineer, having worked with such artists as Paul McCartney, John Williams, Frank Bennet and Roberta Flack - to name a few - as well as working on numerous orchestral recordings for both theatrical and CD release, including the score for Australian cult movie classic, Young Einstein. |

Audio students have recently enjoyed a valuable experience of working on a recording and mixing session at this hemisphere’s largest recording and mixing facility, Studios 301 in Sydney. The students got hands on experience with the 1 million dollar AMS-Neve 88R console as well as a plethora of outboard equipment and first class microphones.
